Video Cutting: split one video into separate clips

Video Cutting is a ClipThemAll service for simple and clear cutting of a source video into separate clips.

Upload your video, choose the cutting method and receive several ready-to-download files. The service can split your video by the number of clips or by the selected duration of each clip.

This service is useful when you do not need AI to find the best moments, but you need to technically split one video into several parts.

What is Video Cutting?

Video Cutting helps you quickly split one source video into several separate clips without manual work in a video editor.

Unlike AI Clip Creation, this service does not search for the best moments in your video and does not analyze the content to select the strongest fragments. Instead, it cuts the video based on a rule selected by the user: by the number of clips or by clip duration.

This is useful when you already know what you need. For example, you may want to split a long recording into equal parts, prepare a file for further editing, break content into shorter fragments or get several separate video files from one source video.

What videos is Video Cutting best for?

Video Cutting is best for tasks where you do not need to select highlights, but need to split a video technically.

You can use this service for:

  • long video recordings;
  • interviews;
  • webinars;
  • online lessons;
  • lectures;
  • presentations;
  • training materials;
  • event recordings;
  • YouTube videos;
  • working video materials;
  • files that need to be split into parts.

For example, if you have a long recording and want to get 6 separate clips, you can choose cutting by clip count. If you need clips of about 5 minutes each, you can choose cutting by clip duration.

What does the user receive?

After processing, the user receives a set of separate video files created according to the selected settings.

Video Cutting includes:

Source video split into downloadable clips

The service splits the source video into separate clips.

Each clip becomes a separate video file that can be downloaded from the user's account after processing is complete.

Cut by clip count

The Cut by clip count option lets you split the source video into a selected number of clips.

For example, if the user enters 6 clips, the service will split the video into 6 parts. This method is useful when you need a specific number of files.

Cut by clip duration

The Cut by clip duration option lets you split the source video into clips of a selected length.

For example, if the user enters 5 minutes, the service will split the video into parts of about that length. The final clip may be shorter if the remaining part of the video is shorter than the selected duration.

This method is useful when you want each clip to have roughly the same duration.

Optional overlap before and after each cut

The Overlap clips by 3 seconds option adds a small overlap around each cutting point.

In this mode, each next clip starts 3 seconds earlier and ends 3 seconds later around the exact cut point.

This can be useful if you do not want to lose important words, movement or context at the boundary between two clips.

Optional TikTok/Reels/Shorts format conversion

The Convert clips to vertical social format option lets you prepare the cut clips for vertical social platforms.

This is useful if you want to use the cut clips for:

  • TikTok;
  • Instagram Reels;
  • YouTube Shorts.

In this case, the service creates additional vertical versions of the cut clips.

Smart face tracking

The Smart face tracking option can be used when conversion to vertical format is enabled.

It helps keep the face or main speaker in frame when creating vertical versions.

If vertical conversion is not enabled, Smart face tracking may be unavailable because face tracking is connected to vertical framing.

What settings and parameters are used before processing?

Before processing starts, the user chooses the service type, the cutting method and additional options. The technical parameters of the uploaded video are detected automatically by the system.

When creating a real order in the user account, the interface reads the uploaded video's parameters automatically, including duration, resolution and other technical data needed to calculate the price.

Processing type

For Video Cutting, the selected processing type is:

Video cutting

This is the mode where ClipThemAll splits the source video into separate clips based on the selected rule.

The service does not choose the best moments and does not use AI to search for strong fragments. The main goal is to technically split the video into several files.

Video file

The user uploads the source video file.

The service reads the technical parameters of the file, including duration and resolution. These data points are used to calculate the processing price and create the result.

Supported video formats:

  • MP4;
  • MOV;
  • MKV;
  • AVI;
  • WEBM;
  • MPG;
  • MPEG.

Video duration

In a real order, the video duration is detected automatically after the file is uploaded.

The user does not need to enter the video duration manually when creating an order. The service reads the duration of the uploaded file and uses it to calculate the processing price.

Duration affects the amount of processing and the final service price. The longer the video, the more material needs to be cut.

Resolution

Video resolution is also detected automatically after the file is uploaded.

The service reads the technical parameters of the source video and uses them when forming the order price. The user does not need to choose the resolution manually when creating a real order.

Resolution affects the processing cost because high-quality video requires more resources.

Cutting setup

In the Cutting setup block, the user chooses how the video should be cut.

Two options are available:

Cut by clip count
The video is split into the selected number of equal clips.

Cut by clip duration
The video is split into clips of the selected duration. The final clip may be shorter.

Number of clips

If Cut by clip count is selected, the user enters the number of clips.

The service will split the source video into the selected number of parts. For example, if the video is 12 minutes long and 6 clips are selected, each clip will be about 2 minutes long.

Clip duration

If Cut by clip duration is selected, the user enters the clip duration in minutes.

The service will split the source video into parts of the selected duration. For example, if 5 minutes is entered, the video will be split into clips of about 5 minutes, and the final clip may be shorter.

Cutting options

In the Cutting options block, the user can choose additional settings.

The following options are available:

Overlap clips by 3 seconds
Adds a small overlap around each cutting point. Each clip starts 3 seconds earlier and ends 3 seconds later around the exact cut point.

Convert clips to vertical social format
Creates additional vertical versions of the cut clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Smart face tracking
Helps keep the face or main speaker in frame when creating vertical versions of the clips. This option is connected to vertical conversion and may be available only after vertical social format is enabled.

Live estimate

The order shows a block with the video parameters and selected settings.

It usually displays:

  • file duration;
  • resolution;
  • estimated outputs;
  • processing mode;
  • cutting method;
  • overlap;
  • vertical social exports.

This block helps the user check which parameters were detected by the system and which cutting settings were selected before creating the order.

How does Video Cutting work?

The process has several steps.

1. Upload your video

First, the user uploads the source video or provides a supported link.

This can be an interview, webinar, online lesson, YouTube video, presentation, event recording or another video file.

Supported video formats:

  • MP4;
  • MOV;
  • MKV;
  • AVI;
  • WEBM;
  • MPG;
  • MPEG.

2. Choose Video Cutting

At the processing step, choose Video cutting.

This means the service will split the source video into separate clips based on the selected rule, without using AI to search for best moments.

3. Choose the cutting method

The user chooses one of the following options:

  • Cut by clip count;
  • Cut by clip duration.

If Cut by clip count is selected, the user enters the number of clips.

If Cut by clip duration is selected, the user enters the clip duration in minutes.

The technical parameters of the video, such as duration and resolution, are detected automatically after the file is uploaded.

4. Choose additional options

If needed, the user can enable additional settings:

  • Overlap clips by 3 seconds;
  • Convert clips to vertical social format;
  • Smart face tracking for vertical versions.

These options help adapt the result to a specific task: keep context around clip boundaries, prepare vertical versions or keep the face in frame.

5. Get the order price

After the video is uploaded and the options are selected, the service forms the processing price.

This amount is the final ClipThemAll service price for the selected order. It is calculated based on the actual parameters of the uploaded video, the processing type, the cutting method and the selected additional options.

During payment, the final amount may change only because of factors on the payment platform side, such as taxes that are added automatically depending on the user's country, payment method and payment provider rules.

6. Confirm the order and pay online

After checking the settings, the user confirms the order and pays online.

No subscription is required. The user pays only for the selected processing of a specific video.

7. Download the finished clips

After processing is complete, the finished clips become available in the user's account.

The user can download the cut video files and, if vertical conversion was selected, additional versions for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

How is Video Cutting different from AI Clip Creation?

Video Cutting does not choose the best moments and does not analyze the video content to find strong fragments.

This service simply splits the source file based on the rule selected by the user.

AI Clip Creation works differently. The service analyzes the video content, looks for potentially strong moments and creates short clips from selected fragments.

Choose Video Cutting if you want to:

  • split one video into several files;
  • choose the number of clips;
  • choose the clip duration;
  • get simple technical cutting;
  • add overlap around cut points;
  • optionally prepare vertical versions of the cut clips;
  • avoid AI-based best-moment selection.

If you need to find strong moments and receive short AI-selected clips, choose AI Clip Creation.

If you need to convert the whole video into vertical format without cutting it into parts, choose Vertical Conversion Only.

Benefits of Video Cutting

Simple cutting without a video editor

Video Cutting lets you quickly split a video into parts without manual editing.

The user does not need to open a video editor, set cut points manually and export each file separately.

Control over the number or length of clips

The user chooses how to split the video: by the number of clips or by the duration of each clip.

This is useful when you need to prepare content for a specific format, course structure, internal task or future publication.

Keep context around clip boundaries

The overlap option helps avoid losing important words or actions at the point where two fragments meet.

This is especially useful for talking videos, lectures, interviews and educational materials.

Prepare vertical versions

If you need to use the cut clips on TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, you can enable vertical conversion.

The service will create additional clip versions for the short vertical format.

When should you choose Video Cutting?

Choose Video Cutting if you have a video that needs to be split into parts.

This service is a good choice if:

  • you do not need AI to find the best moments;
  • you do not need to convert the whole video into one vertical video;
  • you want to get several separate video files;
  • you want to set the number of clips;
  • you want to set the clip duration;
  • you need a small overlap around clip boundaries;
  • you want to additionally get vertical versions of cut clips;
  • you need simple technical cutting of the source file.

When should you choose another service?

Video Cutting is not the best choice for every task.

Choose AI Clip Creation if:

  • you want to find the best moments in a long video;
  • you need a package of short clips;
  • you want to create clips from podcasts, interviews or webinars;
  • you need AI-selected highlights;
  • you need a timeline file with selected moments;
  • you need short clips for social media selected by content.

Choose Vertical Conversion Only if:

  • you do not need to split the video into parts;
  • you want to keep the full source video content;
  • you only want to convert the whole video into vertical format;
  • you need a version for TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts;
  • you want to choose smart face tracking or simple center crop.

How much does Video Cutting cost?

The cost of Video Cutting is calculated individually for each video.

The ClipThemAll service price depends on:

  • video duration;
  • video resolution;
  • selected processing type;
  • cutting method;
  • number of clips;
  • clip duration;
  • use of overlap;
  • whether vertical versions are needed;
  • use of smart face tracking for vertical versions;
  • the amount of processing required for the source file.

When creating an order, the service reads the parameters of the uploaded video and forms the processing price. This price is the final service price from ClipThemAll for the selected order.

During payment, the final amount may change only because of factors on the payment platform side, such as taxes that are added automatically depending on the user's country, payment method and payment provider rules.

ClipThemAll does not require a mandatory subscription. You pay only for the selected processing of your video.
